Storytime: Tuesdays at 10 a.m.

LEGO Club: every other Monday at 4 p.m.

Music and Movement: Second Thursday of each month at 10 a.m.

Middle Grade Craft: Fourth Tuesday of each month at 4 p.m.

Teen Craft: Fourth Thursday of each month at 3:30 p.m.

Family Movie Day: Every four weeks on Friday at 4 p.m.​

PEEPs Contest

Entries:

March 16th - 23rd

Voting:

March 24th - April 1st

It's time to get those PEEPs contest entries ready! Make a diorama of your favorite scene from a book or just something fun and seasonal using PEEPs marshmallows for a chance to win a $50 cash prize! There are separate prize pools for children (0-12), teens (13-17), and adults (18+). Entries must be no larger than 24" x 24" x 24" and must contain at least one PEEPs marshmallow. One entry per person!

Entries will be accepted at the Alma Public Library from March 16th through the 23rd, voting will take place from March 24th through April 1st, winners will be announced on April 2nd! 

Wine and Cheese Tasting

April 24th at 6 pm

Join us again with VanDeMark Farm & Vineyard at the Alma Public Library for a wine and cheese tasting event! Attendees will receive three drink tickets to use for samples of their choice from selected wines and will be able to enjoy a variety of cheeses and crackers picked out to taste great alone or with their drinks. This event is free and open to those 21+ years of age but registration is required! Keep an eye out for a registration link coming soon!

Wright House History & Ice Cream Social

July 16th at 4 pm

Take a break from the heat to enjoy some homemade ice cream and hear about the rich history of the Alma Wright House! Jim Goodspeed and Pat Benson will be sharing their knowledge about this local landmark and reviewing the recent powerhouse efforts to get the building restored to its former glory! Keep an eye out for more details in the future!

Used Book Sale

Sep. 14th - 20th 2026 during open hours

Our 2025 sale was another roaring success! Thank you to our very generous and supportive community, we look forward to our 2026 Used Book Sale, coming to the Alma Public Library from September 14th through the 20th! We can always use help if you are interested in volunteering for this event. We look forward to another great year for this book sale!

Cemetery Tour

Sept. 27th from

12 - 4 pm

Our Cemetery Tour is making a comeback in 2026! This unique tour will take you on a winding path through Alma's Riverside Cemetery with stops at historic graves where actors will recount the stories of those buried underneath. Tragic, bittersweet, and at times, dark, the unearthing of these accounts will be sure to give you a one-of-a-kind look into Alma's past! Keep an eye out for more details in the future!

Holiday Pictures

The opportunity to get holiday photos taken at the library returned in 2025! We are so thankful to AshLin Portraits for making this event possible. We had a great turnout again this year, thank you to all who participated and brought a donation to pay it forward this holiday season!

Chair Fitness

Through March 30th

Mondays at 10 am

Chair fitness is temporarily moving to a new location! Starting Monday, November 3rd, FREE chair fitness classes will be held at the Alma United Methodist Church located on the corner of E. Downie St. and Gratiot Ave. These classes are hosted by ZENLightenment Wellness Center and are low-impact workouts that offer a safe and supportive environment where participants can improve their strength, flexibility, and balance--all while seated!

No registration needed.

March is Reading Month

All of March

March is reading month and the Alma Public Library has a challenge for your children and teens! Check out this MIRM Calendar filled with literary activities to participate in the March is Reading Month challenge! Complete 5 challenges on the calendar and turn it in to the library on or before March 31st to enter your child or teen into a drawing for 1 of 2

Lavender Farm Presentation

May 5th at 4 pm

Learn all about how Wynne Wright runs Sixteen Sprigs, a

woman-owned lavender farm located right here in mid-Michigan! Wynne will be sharing the history of her farm and how passion drives her agricultural and academic endeavors in maintaining her operation. There will also be a display of handcrafted lavender products available for purchase. Keep an eye out for more details! 

Historical True Crime with Allie Seibert

August 6th at 6 pm

Get an insider look into historical true crime legends from Alma's past! Michigan author and historian Allie Seibert will be reviewing the cases of Ellen Crowe and Beatrice Epler who were murdered in the early 1900s under dubious circumstances. Allie will be going over shared details between the cases and theories based on old newspaper articles, photographs, and other historical artifacts! Keep an eye out for more details coming soon!

ALF Annual Meeting

We enjoyed reminiscing about our successes from 2025 and planning ahead for 2026 during our Annual Alma Library Friends meeting! Thank you to those who attended and provided great company and ideas over some lovely refreshments. Check out what we talked about on our news page! We look forward to another great year in 2026!

Journaling Workshop

Nov. 10th at 1 pm

Join us with local author Janet Defever for a journaling workshop! Janet will share her personal journey with this practice through a hands-on experience that will teach you skills and techniques to take the stress out of journaling and help you keep track of your day-to-day.
