The opportunity to get holiday photos taken at the library returned in 2025! We are so thankful to AshLin Portraits for making this event possible. We had a great turnout again this year, thank you to all who participated and brought a donation to pay it forward this holiday season!

We enjoyed reminiscing about our successes from 2025 and planning ahead for 2026 during our Annual Alma Library Friends meeting! We're in the early stages of planning adult programming such as a wine tasting event, meditation class, basic computer skill courses, ancestry.com courses

We had a great time spending Valentine's Day at a special Wine and Cheese Tasting Party at the Alma Public Library! We enjoyed a pre-dinner treat while learning about the process of making wine. There were three wines to sample from the local Vandemark Farm & Vineyard along with pairings of cheese, fruit, and chocolate!

This event was for attendees 21+ years old.

We loved these free tech classes that helped our community boost their tech skills. Each class was two weeks long and helped teach attendees how to use their phones to connect to the digital world safely. The Digital Literacy classes focused on navigating online spaces safely and confidently, Smartphone 101 classes focused on navigating your phone's features!

Chair fitness is temporarily moving to a new location! Starting Monday, November 3rd, FREE chair fitness classes will be held at the Alma United Methodist Church located on the corner of E. Downie St. and Gratiot Ave. These classes are hosted by ZENLightenment Wellness Center and are low-impact workouts that offer a safe and supportive environment where participants can improve their strength, flexibility, and balance--all while seated!

No registration needed.

This year we celebrated paying off the 20-year bond for the library with a ceremonial bond-burning exhibition with the Alma Fire Department. We were honored to have our mayor, Greg Mapes, and our State Librarian, Randy Riley in attendance to give special addresses before the burning. We had a blast socializing with our community while enjoying some cupcakes and punch!

We had a great time with Ric Mixter, who is a shipwreck researcher that has made more than 100 shipwreck dives in the Great Lakes, including to the site of the Edmund Fitzgerald. We were lucky to hear about his endeavors on the 49th anniversary of its sinking. A huge thank you to Ric for this special event!

Our 2025 sale was another roaring success! Thank you to our very generous and supportive community, we look forward to our 2026 Used Book Sale, dates TBD! We can always use help if you are interested in volunteering for this event in the future . Keep an eye out for more details starting next year.
